The first traces of the Zürich Bible go back to Zwingli’s Reformation of Switzerland. In the period between 1524 and 1529, an initial version of the New Testament and a selection of books from the Old Testament appeared. These translations were written by Zwingli and his friend, Leo Jud.
The 1931 edition of the Zürich Bible puts great emphasis on philological accuracy. In comparison to other German language Bible translations, the 1931 edition of the Zürich Bible is by far the most legible.
